John Ryle is the Legrand Ramsey Professor of Anthropology and Chair at the Rift Valley Institute as well as a Professor of Anthropology, Africana Studies, and Human Rights. He is also the Anthropology and Africaeditor, on the Times Literary Supplement editorial board member, contributor to journals and magazines including New York Review of Books, The Guardian, Granta and author of Warriors of the White Nile (1982).
