Professor Teachout is a professor of law at Fordham University. Her background is in laws governing political behavior domestically and abroad. She is a specialist on corruption and its constitutional history. She received her BA from Yale, her MA from Duke in political science and her JD, summa cum laude, from Duke Law School. Before working as a professor at Fordham, she worked at Duke University and University of Vermont. She was the national director of the Sunlight Foundation an organization working to make government more transparent through Internet resources. Professor Teachout also co-founded the Fair Trial Initiative, which provides resources to attorneys working on death penalty cases. She has worked as a political consultant to nonprofits, political campaigns and citizen journalism organizations. For Howard Dean’s 2004 presidential campaign, she directed Internet organizing. More recently she worked at America Coming Together, Current TV and was a fellow at the Berkman Center and a Visiting Assistant Professor at Duke Law School.
