Rebecca Gomperts is a doctor, a seafarer, and an activist — “pro-choice extremist” was the phrase the New York Times Magazine chose to title its August 26 profile of her pioneering voyage to bring reproductive health services to women in Ireland this summer. She spoke about her project, its ideas and its realization, about activism, and about abortion and women’s human rights.
