“Pastoral in Palestine”
Neil Hertz taught literature for many years at Cornell and Johns Hopkins. He is the author of The End of the Line (1985) and George Eliot’s Pulse (2003). In the spring semester 2011 he taught a seminar on “space, power, and politics” at the Bard/al-Quds Honors College, with Omar Youssef, and while there wrote a regular account of everyday life in the Jerusalem-Ramallah area, with special attention to conflicts around urban and rural space.
