In April 2001, The Human Rights Project initiated a student summer internship program. This program is designed to give students the opportunity to experience first-hand the professional human rights environment, an integral part of human rights education and scholarship. At the moment, our program is open to Bard students exclusively.
Center for Human Rights and the Arts internship funding for 2021
In 2021, the newly launched OSUN Center for Human and the Arts (CHRA) is offering funding to support undergraduate and graduate students who are pursuing summer internships at the intersection of human rights and the arts. Awards range based on the length, cost, merit and number of applications, and can be anywhere up to $3000 dollars. Generally, summer internships range in length from 8 to 10 weeks. The application submission deadline for this internship program is May 15, 2021.
The internship application consists of the following:
- A brief statement of purpose (2-2 pages, double-spaced) that includes your name, your contact information, your year and major (eg. human rights ’23), and the name of your academic advisor
2. A budget proposal (typically to cover expenses such as travel/transportation, rent, food)
3. A transcript or list of courses taken to date
Bard Center for the Study of Hate internship funding for 2021
In 2015, the Human Rights Project initiated a collaborative internship program with the Justus and Karin Rosenberg Foundation for Bard students to gain hands-on experience with nonprofit groups and other organizations that focus on hatred, antisemitism, extremism, and xenophobia. In October 2018, this collaboration officially became the Bard Center for the Study of Hate, which continues to offer internship opportunities to students across Bard’s global network of campuses and to Bard’s high school students who are 18 years old by the application deadline.
