Sounding Human Rights: A two-day radio workshop
March 16, 2015 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
This 2-day workshop, led by Danielle Riou, will explore the ways to think about sound in relation to human rights while we learn the basics of sound recording and production.
Through group listening exercises on human-rights themed radio pieces, we’ll explore, among other things, sound as a means of eliciting emotion, reconstructing events and memories, and providing context for your narrative, if you need it. Workshop participants will learn the basics of audio production including recording, editing, mixing, and writing for the ear. At the end of the two days, participants will have begun work on their own audio pieces, perhaps even completed them. The workshop will end with a group listening session for participants to share and comment on what they’ve made so far.
Mon-Tues July 21-22, 2014
This workshop is organized by The Human Rights Project at Bard and the Human Rights Program at Bard in Berlin.
