Robin Blackburn is a Leverhulme research fellow at the University of Essex in the UK. Between 2001 and 2010 he was Visiting Professor at the New School for Social Research in NYC. He is the author, most recently of “American Crucible: Slavery, Emancipation and Human Rights”, and of “The Unfinished Revolution: Karl Marx and Abraham Lincoln”. He is a former editor and frequent contributor to New Left Review.
